
The St.John Bosco’s College of Education in Navrongo on Thursday 20th of February 2025, held its 13th Congregation ceremony for the 2023 class of graduating students.
The ceremony, which was held at the college’s auditorium, brought together stakeholders from the education sector, students and staff of the college, graduands and families members, heads of institutions, traditional Authorities and alumni of the college.
In all, 318 students graduated with various Bachelor of Education Degrees.
18 of them graduated with 1st class honors, 153 earned second class upper division, 104 got second class lower and 28 came out with third class division.
Addressing the congregation, the Acting Principal of the College, Dr. Rudolph Nyaaba underscored the importance of the teaching as a profession.
“Teaching is more than a profession, it is a calling to shape minds and influence hearts and build a future. You are stepping into a field that demands not only knowledge but also empathy, patience and an unwavering commitment to lifelong learning”.
Despite the numerous challenges including inadequate staff, laboratories and workshops, the college has strived to maintain itself as a center of excellence in teacher education in Ghana. With a population of 1,572, there is pressure on existing facilities.
In his speech, Dr Nyaaba called for government assistance to enable the college to continue to produce quality teachers to meet demand.
At the end of the ceremony, awards were given to graduands who performed well during their study. Felix Atingani was judged as the best graduate student overall.
