Albert Sore elected GJA Upper East Regional Chairman
In a closely contested election held on Monday June 30, Sore garnered 29 out of 44 valid votes, defeating his sole contender, Ebo Bruce-Quansah, who polled 15 votes.
Joy News’ Upper East Regional Correspondent, Albert Sore, has been elected as the new Regional Chairman of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) in the Upper East Region.
In a closely contested election held on Monday June 30, Sore garnered 29 out of 44 valid votes, defeating his sole contender, Ebo Bruce-Quansah, who polled 15 votes.
Addressing journalists after his victory, Albert Sore expressed gratitude to members for the confidence reposed in him.
He pledged to prioritize unity within the association and champion the welfare of journalists across the region.
“I am committed to fostering unity, promoting professional growth, and making the GJA more attractive to journalists who have yet to join,” Sore stated.
The outgoing Regional Chairman, Jalulah Nlanjerbor William, lauded members for conducting the election in a peaceful and orderly manner. He expressed appreciation for the support shown during his tenure and urged continued cooperation with the incoming leadership.

Jalulah also acknowledged the strong endorsement received by national GJA President Albert Dwumfour, whose candidacy he believed would be renewed. He described the vote as a reflection of the achievements of the outgoing national and regional executive, encouraging members to rally behind the new leadership for greater impact.
The election forms part of the nationwide GJA polls to elect new regional and national executives for the next term.
