Kacstone Records urges Journalists to promote and preserve Upper East culture

Aborah, who represented Kacstone Records and legendary music icon Michael Adangba, emphasized that the media holds a powerful influence in shaping public perception and safeguarding local traditions.

Cultural enthusiast and Managing Director of Kacstone Records, Wenawome Duriyem Aborah, has called on journalists in the Upper East Region to take a more active role in promoting and preserving the region’s rich cultural heritage.

Speaking at the 4th Upper East Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Awards in Bolgatanga on Friday, October 10, Aborah, who represented Kacstone Records and legendary music icon Michael Adangba, emphasized that the media holds a powerful influence in shaping public perception and safeguarding local traditions.

He noted that while modernization and globalization have brought significant development opportunities, they have also contributed to the gradual erosion of indigenous values and cultural identity.

Aborah urged journalists to use their platforms to document, highlight, and celebrate the region’s cultural expressions, including its festivals, music, language, and traditional crafts.

“In this age of digitalization, we must not allow our cultural identity to be eroded by foreign influence. We count on you, our partners in the media, to use your platforms to preserve and protect our unique and enviable heritage.”

He also appealed to the Ghana Journalists Association to serve as a conduit for peace and unity among the diverse tribes in the region.

“We want to use this platform to call for the need to be voices that bring unity among our diverse tribes in the region. Let’s all support each other beyond geographical and tribal differences and patronize events in all parts of the region as one people with unique identities.” He added.

Kacstone Records, apart from being a major sponsor of the awards event, also made a cash donation of four thousand cedis to the Overall Best Journalist of the Year.

The 4th Upper East GJA Awards, held under the theme “Upholding Public Trust: The Role of the Media in Promoting Accountable Governance in the Upper East Region, celebrated outstanding journalists and recognized individuals who are contributing to development in the region.
