Builsa North: Residents of Bilinsa builds health facility through communual initiative

The facility was constructed through the joint efforts of the community, friends, stakeholders, and the Member of Parliament for Builsa North, James Agalga.

Residents of Bilinsa in the Builsa North Municipality of the Upper East Region have commissioned an ultra-modern health facility, built through community initiative and support.

The project, which was spearheaded by the Bilinsa community, reflects years of collective sacrifice, contributions, and determination to address the healthcare challenges faced by residents.

For decades, community members, especially women, children, and the elderly, were compelled to travel long distances to access basic medical services.

The facility was constructed through the joint efforts of the community, friends, stakeholders, and the Member of Parliament for Builsa North, James Agalga.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony on Friday January 23, 2026, the Assembly Member for the Bilinsa Electoral Area, Clifford Apag-Yarik, described the project as a major milestone in the community’s quest for accessible and quality healthcare.

He noted that the health centre represents more than just a building, stressing that it symbolizes unity, resilience, and the determination of the people of Bilinsa to take charge of their own development.

Apag-Yarik disclosed that the facility still requires critical support to become fully operational. He appealed to the Builsa North Municipal Assembly, non-governmental organisations, benevolent individuals, and the Member of Parliament to assist with essential items such as laboratory equipment, a biodigester for the sanitation system, and other basic clinical needs.

He further revealed that the community has already commenced the construction of wards to cater for patients with more critical health conditions, reaffirming their commitment to fully developing the facility.

Apag-Yarik urged residents and stakeholders to continue supporting the initiative to ensure the health centre is completed and equipped to serve current and future generations.

The Bilinmonsa Chief Naab Atong Kofi, who spoke on behalf of the four (4) community chiefs and queen mothers, expressed  joy regarding the community’s togetherness, which made the project a success.

The chief expressed gratitude to all who contributed to the realization of the project, highlighting that the facility stands as a testament to what unity and collaboration can achieve.

He encouraged fellow chiefs and queen mothers to support the community’s ongoing development initiatives.

In his remarks, the Municipal Chief Executive of the Builsa North Assembly (MCE),  Solomon Akogti Ansoabayie, praised the Bilinsa community for their proactive commitment to development and pledged the Assembly’s continued support.

He also announced that plans for rural electrification in the area are at an advanced stage, assuring residents that electricity will reach the community soon.

The Builsa North Constituency Chairman of the governing National Democratic Congress, James Achaab, who represented the Member of Parliament, commended the people of Bilinsa for their initiative and commitment to development, noting that community-driven projects play a crucial role in complementing government efforts.
