581 teacher trainees graduate at 14th congregation of St. John Bosco College of Education

The graduating students were drawn from the Junior High School and Upper Primary education programmes.

A total of 581 teacher trainees from the 2024 graduating cohort of St. John Bosco College of Education, Navrongo, have successfully graduated and been deployed into the teaching field.

The graduates were presented at the College’s 14th Congregation Ceremony held on Saturday, January 31, at the school premises.

The graduating students were drawn from the Junior High School and Upper Primary education programmes.

Those in the Junior High School category pursued Bachelor of Education programmes in Science, Agricultural Science, Mathematics, ICT, Visual Arts, Construction Technology, Metal and Automotive Technology, Electrical and Electronic Technology, Wood Technology, and Home Economics.

Delivering the welcome address, the Principal of the College, Professor Clement Ayarebilla Ali, highlighted the historic significance of the ceremony.

“Today marks a very important milestone in the history of this institution. We are not only celebrating our 14th congregation, but also commemorating 96 years of the establishment of this noble college.” He said.

“We therefore warmly welcome you to St. John Bosco College of Education, a centre of excellence in teacher education.”

Professor Ali noted that despite the College’s longstanding contributions to teacher education in Ghana, it continues to face several challenges, including inadequate accommodation for staff and students, insufficient staffing, and the absence of a governing council.

He congratulated the graduates for their dedication and perseverance and encouraged them to remain confident as they begin their professional careers.

“Your success in life does not depend solely on the class of degree you obtained, but on how determined you are to succeed and make an impact.” He advised.

As part of the ceremony, awards were presented to outstanding students for academic excellence. The Overall Best Graduating Student award was won by Baba Emanuel, who graduated with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.83.

The ceremony brought together education stakeholders, clergy, traditional leaders, parents, and well-wishers to celebrate the achievements of the graduating students.
