Navro Pio Pe Asagipaare II calls for justice and compassion at Navrongo Central Prison

The Paramount Chief of the Navrongo Traditional Area, Pe Denis Aniakwo Balinia Adda Asagipaare II, has called for justice, compassion and renewed hope for inmates at the Navrongo Central Prison.

Speaking during the 21st National Chocolate Day celebration organised by the Ghana Tourism Authority on February 14, the revered traditional ruler delivered an emotional address to inmates, security officers and dignitaries gathered in the prison yard.

Addressing the Upper East Prison authorities, the Municipal Chief Executive and other invited guests, the Chief made it clear that his message was not political but one rooted in faith and humanity.

“Wherever you find yourself, it is the will of God that you are there,” he stated.

The Paramount Chief revealed that earlier that morning, he had been listening to news reports that left him saddened by the realities of some prison sentences.

“I was sad because some of you are here not because you are bad people, but because you were advised to plead guilty when you were not guilty,” he said.

He noted that some inmates are in prison not because they have committed severe crimes but because they couldn’t pay a fine.

“Some of you are here. You are innocent, but you are here. Whatever you are going through, that is not the end of the world,” he emphasized.

He prayed that inmates with pending cases would receive timely justice and that those unable to pay fines would find benefactors to support their release.

“I pray that your destiny helper will come, and you will also leave. That does not mean you are bad people,” he added.

Pe Denis Aniakwo Balinia Adda Asagipaare II concluded by encouraging inmates not to lose faith, assuring them that imprisonment does not define their entire destiny.
