Berekum City PRO denies allegations of the team returning to Berekum

Berekum City PRO dismisses relocation claims, assuring fans the team will remain in the Upper East Region and compete in Zone 1A if promoted.

The Public Relations Officer of a newly qualified Berekum City, Salifu Afangya Yakubu has denies claims in the public domain that, if the team qualifies to the Access Division One League, the team will be taken back to Berekum.

Speaking on Mike Elite Sports on Saturday, 25th April, 2026, Afangya said, the notion share by fans that their team will take the slot out in Upper East is not true, the team is here to stay and represent the region and play in Zone 1A.

He argued that, it is not possible for the team to move from Zone 1A to a different Zone. Teams in the Bono region are in Zone 1B. He added that, Berekum City originated from here, because when Bolga All Stars got relegated to Division One, they sold it and the name changed to Nkroaza Worries, they also sold it and the name also changed to Berekum City now back to play in the Upper East Region.

Moreover he added that, plans are far advance in changing the name of the team to depict the people interest.

The CEO of the team, Aloko Eric on another medium also spoke on the team playing their Division One League in the Upper East Region.
