Berekum City, a Division Two League club in Ghana’s Upper East Region, have secured qualification to next season’s Access Division One League after an impressive performance in the regional Middle League playoff on Sunday, April 26, 2026.
The club overcame stiff competition from five other teams, Bolga Soccer Masters, Zorko United, Navrongo Liberty Stars, Samba Stars, and Paga Crocodile Stars to book their place in the higher tier.
Berekum City finished second in their zonal standings behind Bolga Soccer Masters but showed resilience and determination in the Middle League. They played five matches, winning four and losing just onceagainst Navrongo Liberty Stars to accumulate 12 points out of a possible 15.

Their qualification journey has been far from easy. The foundation was laid last season, when Bolga All Stars progressed on a head-to-head advantage, setting the stage for increased competition in the region.
With this achievement, Berekum City will join Bolga All Stars as representatives of the Upper East Region in the Division One League. This marks the first time since the 2016–2017 season that the region will have two clubs competing at that level, when Tanga FC and Bolga All Stars featured in the league.
