Afoko will restore unity and rebuild NPP for victory – Addae Nimo
Former presidential aspirant says internal unity is key to NPP's comeback, endorses Paul Afoko's 3R Agenda to reunite, rebuild and recapture power.
Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Aspirant, Addae Nimo, has thrown his support behind the National Chairman bid of Paul Awentami Afoko, urging party executives and delegates in the Upper East Region to rally behind him to help restore unity and strengthen the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Speaking during an interaction with NPP constituency executives, patrons and delegates in the Upper East Region, Nimo said the party’s greatest challenge was not its leadership structures but the divisions and mistrust that had emerged among members.
According to him, rebuilding internal cohesion is essential if the NPP is to return to power after its defeat in the 2024 elections.
“Our issue is not with the National Executive Committee. The issue is how we have treated one another as party members. If we want our party to come back to power, then we must first learn to treat ourselves fairly and as one family,” he stated.
Nimo described Afoko as the most suitable candidate to reunite the party, rebuild its structures and position it for electoral victory.
He noted that Afoko’s previous tenure as National Chairman was cut short and argued that he should be given the opportunity to complete the work he started.
“At the moment, in my opinion, he is the person who can truly bring unity to the party. He has the experience, the discipline and the leadership qualities needed to guide the NPP forward,” he said.
Addressing concerns about both the NPP’s flagbearer and prospective national chairman coming from the northern part of Ghana, Nimo dismissed the argument as irrelevant, insisting that competence and leadership should take precedence over regional considerations.
He urged party members in the Upper East Region to actively campaign for Afoko and help promote his vision across the country.
Delegates and constituency executives who addressed the gathering pledged their support for Afoko’s candidature, describing him as a leader capable of revitalising the party and reconnecting with its grassroots base.

Representatives from constituencies including Nabdam, Bolgatanga Central, Bongo and Bawku expressed confidence in Afoko’s leadership credentials and promised to mobilise support for his campaign.
Some delegates recalled his previous tenure as National Chairman and commended his commitment to party organisation and grassroots development.
They further appealed to him to remain accessible to party members across all regions and continue engaging constituency executives and grassroots supporters as part of efforts to strengthen the party.
The interaction formed part of Afoko’s nationwide consultations with party stakeholders as he seeks election as National Chairman of the NPP under his “3R Agenda” of Reunite, Rebuild and Recapture.
