NPP Regional appointments will strengthen party ahead of 2028 – Thomas Kwalase

Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Secretary for the Chiana-Paga Constituency, Thomas Kwalase, says the appointment of ten additional regional officers in the Upper East Region will strengthen the party’s structures and complement the work of its elected executives ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Monday, August 31, Kwalase said the appointments had helped address geographical representation gaps that emerged following the party’s recent regional executive elections.
According to him, some constituencies did not secure representation through the election of regional executives.
He said the appointments had subsequently provided representation for constituencies including Chiana-Paga, Navrongo Central, Builsa North and South.
Kwalase explained that the NPP Constitution makes provision for such appointments to address representation gaps and strengthen the regional executive structure.
He said the appointments had created a better balance among the various zones of the Upper East Region and would enable the party to broaden its reach and strengthen its grassroots structures.
However, he stressed that the effectiveness of the newly appointed officers would depend largely on their ability to work closely with the elected executives and pursue the collective agenda of the party.
Kwalase cautioned the appointees against using their positions to compete with or undermine elected party leaders.
“When you are appointed to assist, you must be able to serve with commitment and respect. We must not go there with a mindset of insubordination,” he said.
He said the appointees had been selected to complement the work of the elected executives and strengthen the party’s structures across the region.
Kwalase expressed confidence that the move would contribute to improving the NPP’s electoral fortunes in the Upper East Region ahead of the 2028 elections.
He said the party was currently focused on rebuilding unity and strengthening its structures from the regional level down to the polling stations and electoral areas.
He further called on party members to put aside personal disagreements and prioritise the collective interests of the NPP.
According to him, although some members may not be satisfied with the appointments, unity and cooperation would be critical to achieving the party’s political objectives.
