Berekum City fights back to draw 2-2 with Navrongo Liberty Stars

Berekum City staged a spirited comeback to draw 2-2 with Navrongo Liberty Stars in a pre-season friendly as both sides fine-tune their preparations for the new league season.

Navrongo Liberty Stars made a bright start to the encounter, scoring twice in the opening minutes to establish a 2-0 lead.

Berekum City, however, showed resilience to fight their way back into the game, scoring two goals to secure a share of the spoils.

The friendly provided a valuable test for both clubs as they continue to shape their squads ahead of their respective league campaigns.

It was the second meeting between the two sides, with Navrongo Liberty Stars winning one encounter while the other ended in a draw.

The match also marked Berekum City’s final pre-season fixture ahead of the start of their Division One League campaign.

The Upper East-based side will travel to Wa to face newly promoted Kalibi FC in their opening league fixture on Saturday, September 19.

Speaking to Mike FM after the game, Berekum City Head Coach, Adamu Akugre, thanked Navrongo Liberty Stars for accepting the invitation and providing his team with a competitive test.

Coach Akugre expressed confidence in his squad and assured supporters that the team was well prepared for the new season.
