Continue supporting us to sustain development gains – Faustina Abulu urges residents
The MCE urged residents and stakeholders to sustain their support for local development initiatives as the Assembly presented its two-year development record at an accountability forum.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Kassena-Nankana Municipality, Faustina Akeyom Abulu has appealed to residents and stakeholders to continue supporting the Assembly’s development initiatives to sustain the gains made in the municipality.
She said the collective commitment of citizens was essential to consolidating development achievements and ensuring the successful implementation of projects and programmes aimed at improving the lives of residents.
Abulu made the appeal at an Accountability to the People Forum held on Friday October 9, at the Assembly’s conference hall.
Addressing participants, she stressed that development at the local level required the active participation and support of citizens, adding that the Assembly could achieve more through sustained collaboration with residents and other stakeholders.
“Continue to support us so we can sustain the gains we have collectively made,” she urged.
The MCE said engagements of that nature were important for strengthening local democracy by bringing citizens closer to governance processes and providing them with opportunities to contribute to decisions affecting their communities.
“Engagements like this go a long way to promote local democracy, participation, transparency and accountability,” she said.
Abulu also expressed appreciation to residents and stakeholders for their continued support and contribution to the municipality’s development efforts.
As part of the forum, the Assembly presented an account of projects and development initiatives implemented over the past two years across various sectors, providing participants with an overview of its activities and progress.

The Upper East Regional Minister, Donatus Akamugri Atanga, who was the guest of honour underscored the importance of the forum, describing such engagements as an opportunity to strengthen accountability and bring governance closer to the people.
He said the initiative aligned with President John Dramani Mahama’s resetting agenda, which places emphasis on accountability and value for money in the implementation of development projects.
Atanga also highlighted key development commitments of the NDC government to the Upper East Region, including plans to redevelop the regional sports stadium, construct a regional airport and the establishment of a passport office.
Ahead of the forum, the MCE and the Regional Minister inspected and commissioned selected development projects at Nawognia and Pungu.

The forum provided a platform for duty bearers and residents to discuss government policies and programmes, assess their impact on communities and raise concerns about local development priorities.
It also sought to strengthen public participation in governance while promoting transparency and accountability in the management of public resources.
