Chiana-Paga MP disburses ₵169,000 to 169 tertiary students in Chiana-Paga Constituency

A total of ₵169,000 was disbursed, with each beneficiary receiving ₵1,000 as partial financial assistance to cushion their educational expenses. The beneficiaries were drawn from the three zones within the constituency.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for the Chiana-Paga Constituency, Nikyema Billa Alamzy, has extended financial support to 169 tertiary students in his constituency using funds from the MP’s Common Fund.

A total of ₵169,000 was disbursed, with each beneficiary receiving ₵1,000 as partial financial assistance to cushion their educational expenses. The beneficiaries were drawn from the three zones within the constituency.

Speaking at a brief ceremony held on Friday, October 3, 2025, at the Kassena Nankana West District Assembly, Alamzy clarified that the initiative was funded through his Common Fund allocation and not influenced by personal bias, as alleged by some critics.

“It is out of the MP’s Common Fund that we are using to support you. We are giving ₵169,000 as partial support and hope it transitions into full support in the future. Some people have claimed I personally selected the beneficiaries, but that is false. The communities and branches handled the selection process.” He stated.

The MP further revealed plans to channel future development efforts into renovating and furnishing basic schools across the constituency to improve the learning environment for younger pupils.

The Kassena Nankana West District Chief Executive (DCE), Stephen Aeke Akurugo, who graced the occasion, commended the MP for his initiative and urged the beneficiaries to remain focused on their studies.

“Education remains the key to unlocking a better future. Make good use of this support and strive for excellence,” the DCE advised.

Some of the beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the MP for his commitment to education.

“I am a student of EP College of Education, Bimbilla. This is the first time I am witnessing such support. The claims that the process was biased are not true, I applied via a link and was selected fairly,” one student shared.

Present at the ceremony were some constituency executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who accompanied the MP to offer their support.

The initiative forms part of Alamzy’s broader agenda to promote human capital development and educational advancement within the Chiana-Paga Constituency.
