Bolga All Stars Sporting Club, the only team representing the Upper East Region in the National Access Bank Division One League, began the 2025–2026 season with a 2-0 defeat at home to Tamale-based side, Tamale City FC. The match was played at the Kurt Okraku Technical Center in Winkogo.
The visitors opened the scoring in the first half and doubled their lead just five minutes into the second half.
Bolga All Stars, nicknamed The Pride of the East, had played a series of friendly matches during pre-season, which were intended to prepare them well for the league.
Speaking a day before the season opener, head coach Adamu Mohammed Akugre stated that his side was ready for the challenge, with the goal of qualifying for the Ghana Premier League. He added that the team would take it one match at a time, and at the very least, aim to retain their Division One League status.
The club, previously a Premier League side, is owned by the Upper East Regional Football Association Chairman, Salifu Shaibu Zida. Their last appearance in the Division One League was two seasons ago.
Despite the opening day setback, the team remains optimistic. In a post on their official Facebook page, the club wrote:
“First test ended in defeat at home. We’re dashing this off. Not the best start for us, but we will build from here and fight on. We lost 2-0 against Tamale City FC on day one of our Access Bank Division One League campaign.”
Bolga All Stars will play their next match away against TF Exponential.
