Chiana-Paga NPP Youth Organizer scores President Mahama below 50% after 120 days in office
Kasim criticized the President for what he described as unfulfilled promises and a lack of decisive action, particularly in the fight against illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey.
Mandela Mubasshir Kasim, the Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Chiana-Paga constituency, has expressed strong dissatisfaction with President John Mahama’s performance during his first 120 days in office, calling it inadequate and disappointing.
Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Friday, Kasim criticized the President for what he described as unfulfilled promises and a lack of decisive action, particularly in the fight against illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey.
“It’s a failure. Look at our water bodies today, galamsey is at its worst level ever. Can anyone honestly say it has been banned?” he asked, questioning the effectiveness of the President’s commitment to environmental protection.
Kasim also took aim at the government’s promotion of a 24-hour economy, arguing that no clear and structured policy has been presented to support its implementation. “The President has made some efforts, but they fall short of what Ghanaians expected. If I say he has not performed at all, I’d be lying. He did his best, but it is not enough. If I had to score him, I’d give him below 50%,” he said.
He further cautioned the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) against complacency, urging the administration to step up its governance efforts and deliver tangible results that directly impact the lives of ordinary citizens.
Kasim’s remarks contribute to the broader national debate on the performance of President Mahama’s administration since its return to office and reflect growing concerns among opposition figures especially the NPP about the pace and impact of key government initiatives.
