Citizens of Sirigu thank President Mahama for appointing Stephen Akurugu Aeke as KNW DCE
While reposing confidence in the nominee’s leadership, the group has assured to throw their weight behind him to help achieve government business.
Citizens of Sirigu, a group in the Kassena-Nankana West District of the Upper East Region, has expressed appreciation to President John Mahama for appointing Stephen Akurugu Aeke, as the District Chief Executive (DCE).
President Mahama on April 4 nominated Stephen Akurugu Aeke among 15 others to the various Municipal and District Assemblies in the region, awaiting their approval.
In a press release dated April 9, 2025, the group praised President Mahama for appointing a native and described it as “remarkable and historic”.
“This nomination is a moment of immense pride and celebration for the people of Sirigu, as it marks the very first time in our history that a native of the community has been entrusted with this esteemed position of leadership and responsibility at the district level.” Dr David Adumbire, convener of the group, said.
The group added that the nomination is a significant gesture of recognition and empowerment for the community and assured to help the nominee obtain a 100 percent approval.
“The people of Sirigu, especially the youth, are filled with joy and optimism for the future. This milestone comes at a time when communities across the country are yearning for recognition, empowerment, and opportunities to participate meaningfully in governance and development,”
The group further hailed the nomination of Stephen Akurugu Aeke as an indication of the president’s resolve to lead an inclusive government, reward loyalty and hard work. They said the nominee has served the party faithfully and diligently over the years, particularly in the capacity as Branch Chairman for three consecutive terms and was currently the party’s Other Youth Representative in the Constituency.
