Dezendane Organisation extends HIV/AIDS self-testing to Easter picnic centres
In partnership with the Ghana HIV and AIDS Network (GHANET) and the Ghana Health Service, the organisation aims to sensitise the public on knowing their HIV status to help curb the prevalence of the infection.

The Dezendane Integrated Development Organisation (DIDO), a Paga-based non-governmental organisation, has extended its advocacy on HIV/AIDS self-testing to Easter picnic centres in Navrongo.
In partnership with the Ghana HIV and AIDS Network (GHANET) and the Ghana Health Service, the organisation aims to sensitise the public on knowing their HIV status to help curb the prevalence of the infection.
On April 21, 2025, the organisation visited key picnic centres in Navrongo, including the CKT Tedam University of Technology and Applied Sciences, where the school’s Catholic community had organised a picnic.
Aloah Wemang Success, a field officer at Dezendane Integrated Development Organisation, explained that the choice of venue was informed by the large youth population that attends Easter picnics.
Wemang emphasised the need for everyone to know their HIV/AIDS status to guide their living and reduce the spread of the virus.
“The virus is still spreading fast, so we are advocating for people to know their status to help reduce the rate at which it is spreading.” He said.
The organisation engaged the revellers at the picnic centre on the importance of knowing one’s HIV status and provided them with free HIV test kits.
“As we are spiritually built because of Easter, we should also know our health status. That’s why we’re here, to enable everyone to know their HIV status by providing them with free test kits,” Wemang said.

He assured users of the test kits’ safety and confidentiality. The project is funded by the Global Fund as part of efforts to combat the spread of HIV.
