The Energy Commission of Ghana has certified 22 electricians in Navrongo, equipping them with standard skills for domestic and commercial electrical work.
The training, aimed at ensuring safety and integrity in electrical installations, is part of the commission’s efforts to promote professionalism in the electrical industry.
At the graduation ceremony on April 3, 2025, Eric Bossman, an Electrical Inspector, emphasized the importance of certifying electricians.
He cautioned the graduates against undertaking electrical works beyond their mandate, stating, “As graduates, you are certified to undertake domestic and commercial electrical work, but not all are qualified to handle industrial projects.”
Bossman also expressed dissatisfaction with the high number of uncertified electricians in the country, warning against the activities of unqualified individuals.
Amos Adongo, a Senior Maintenance Mechanic, advised graduates to prioritize safety, emphasizing the dangers of dealing with live wires.
Adongo also urged graduates to abide by the profession’s code of ethics and avoid illegal connections, warning that failure to comply could result in jail time.
“I want you to know that if you go out and do not follow the code of ethics of the profession and you are caught using fake materials or aiding a customer to engage in illegal connections you will be jailed. ” Adongo cautioned.
Damyomah Isaac, a graduate, expressed gratitude to the Energy Commission, stating that the training exposed him to basic principles of electrification.
