Ghana Drunkards Association appeals for peace in Bawku and Binduri
The association noted that several of its members in the affected areas have had their daily lives severely disrupted due to the volatile security conditions.

The Ghana Drunkards Association has issued a heartfelt plea for peace in the conflict-prone areas of Bawku and Binduri in the Upper East Region, following renewed violence that has claimed lives, displaced residents, and disrupted economic activity in recent weeks.
In a statement, the Association expressed deep concern over the escalating clashes, describing the situation as “very unfortunate and highly unacceptable,” especially given its impact on innocent civilians, including women and children.
The association noted that several of its members in the affected areas have had their daily lives severely disrupted due to the volatile security conditions.
“We have received several calls and complaints from our members in Bawku and Binduri,”
“Their freedom of movement and ability to relax at local pubs have been compromised, with many spots closing operations due to safety concerns.” the statement read.
The association, which represents pub-goers and operators across the country, highlighted the far-reaching economic consequences of the conflict. The association reported a growing shortage of alcoholic beverages and rising drink prices in the area, attributing this to fears among transporters and distributors who are unwilling to risk moving goods into the conflict zones.
“This unpredictable security situation has led to severe shortages of drinks, especially from local beverage manufacturers. Prices have shot up, and many pubs and food joints have had to close due to lack of supply,” the statement added.
The association called on all factions involved in the conflict to immediately lay down their arms and commit to peaceful dialogue. They also appealed to the mediation committee led by His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II to expedite efforts toward a lasting resolution of the Bawku chieftaincy dispute.
“Our brethren in Bawku and Binduri, please remember we are all one. Nobody is a winner in war—every victory comes at a price. Peace is priceless,”
