India-Ghana Partnership Strengthened to Boost SMEs, Manufacturing, and Services Sectors

The Indian High Commissioner to Ghana, Mr. Manish Gupta, has affirmed that India and Ghana will strengthen their bilateral relations to boost Ghana’s small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), manufacturing, and services sectors. This announcement was made during a reception to commemorate India’s 75th Republic Day at the High Commissioner’s residence in Accra1.

Mr. Gupta emphasized that the partnership aims to mutually benefit both countries by increasing investments in Ghana’s SMEs, manufacturing, and services sectors. He highlighted Ghana’s potential in agriculture, abundant natural resources, and India’s rapidly growing economy as key factors that make this collaboration promising1.

The High Commissioner noted that since Ghana’s independence, both countries have shared common values and built a relationship rooted in mutual trust. He expressed eagerness to collaborate with the new government to further strengthen the partnership between the two nations1. Mr. Gupta also mentioned the successful completion of the Tema-Mpakadan railway line, a $450 million project funded by India’s Eximbank, as a testament to the strong bilateral ties.

The partnership will focus on several key areas, including:

  • SMEs: Enhancing the growth and sustainability of small and medium-sized enterprises in Ghana.
  • Manufacturing: Boosting Ghana’s manufacturing sector through technology transfer and investment.

Mr. Gupta commended Ghana’s efforts in developing its human capital and educational institutions, drawing parallels with India’s approach to building a strong industrial base alongside world-class education. He encouraged Ghana to recognize and develop its services sector to serve the regional block for economic benefit
