Mahama to undertake key road infrastructure projects in Upper East Region

The President assured the people of the region of his readiness to improve major road networks in the region.

His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama has outlined key road projects his government will be undertaking in the Upper East Region to enhance road transportation.

The President assured the people of the region of his readiness to improve major road networks in the region.

He made this known while addressing hundreds of people during his Thank You Tour of the Region on Thursday March 20, 2025 at the Jubilee Park in Bolgatanga.

The road projects include; The completion of the Bolgatanga- Bawku- Pulmakom Road; Resurfacing of the Tamale – Bolgatanga- Paga Road; Construction of the Navrongo-Sandema-Fumbisi to Daboya Road and Construction of a road liking the Upper East Regional capital, Bolgatanga to the Upper West Regional capital, Wa.

He added that his administration is keen on completing all abandoned infrastructure projects in the region.

“I have asked the Minister of Finance to fast-track efforts to unlock funds for stalled infrastructure projects in the Upper East Region, recognising not only the region’s strategic role in Ghana’s quest for agricultural and industrial transformation but also the need to bridge the developmental gap.” He mentioned.

In a well acceptable message, the president announced his directive for the commencement of the sourcing of funding for the construction of the Upper East Regional Airport through a public-private partnership.

“I have also asked the Managing Director of the Ghana Airport Company to commence the sourcing of funding for the construction of the Upper East Regional Airport, we intend to do this under a PPP module in conjunction with the gold mining companies in this region.” He revealed.
