Mirigu Community Embarks on Cleanup Exercise to Promote Cleanliness and Hygiene

The two-day exercise, which took place on March 31 and April 1, 2025, focused on getting rid of plastic waste in the community.

The Mirigu community leadership and stakeholders have successfully organized a community-wide cleanup exercise aimed at promoting cleanliness and hygiene in the community.

The two-day exercise, which took place on March 31 and April 1, 2025, focused on getting rid of plastic waste in the community.

On the first day, community members were encouraged to sweep around their houses and surroundings, while on the second day, members converged at the Mirigu market square for the final cleanup exercise.

The exercise, which started as early as 7:00 in the morning, saw community members sweeping the entire market, the chief’s palace, and around the Ghana National Fire Service station.

The Mirigu Police Station was one of the places cleaned.

 

The development chief, Naba Abemniah Baba Ayelazuno, who spoke on behalf of the Paramount Chief of Mirigu traditional area, emphasized the importance of keeping the environment clean. He thanked everyone for participating and encouraged them to continue with the cleaning efforts.

“The Paramount chief of Mirigu traditional area Naba Anonsona Apisa Anthony Atasige the 3rd met with his divisional chiefs and elders, assembly and unit committee members in taking the decision for the cleanup exercise which he said cleanliness is next to godliness for that matter the need to keep the environment clean, ” he stated.

The community members were encouraged to continue keeping the environment clean.

The CEO of Bencyn Group of Companies, Benjamin Achelisiwine Anyana, who supported the exercise, highlighted the dangers of plastic waste in the community. He advised the youth on the dangers of drug abuse and encouraged the community to continue keeping the environment clean.

Traders at the Mirigu market, including Cecilia Amidaana and Solomon Alebya, welcomed the initiative and encouraged their fellow traders to keep their shops and surroundings clean.

The exercise was attended by the development chief, development committee members, personnel from Zoom Lion Ghana, assembly and unit committee members, and some divisional chiefs.
