Navrongo MP and MCE enjoy cordial working relationship – NDC’s Maurice Achana

According to him, contrary to widespread speculation, the two leaders share a healthy and productive working relationship focused on advancing the development of the Navrongo Central Constituency.

A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communications Team in the Navrongo Central Constituency Maurice Danwadaane Achana, has dismissed claims of a rift between the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kassena-Nankana Municipality, Faustina Abulu and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Navrongo Central, Simon Aworigo.

According to him, contrary to widespread speculation, the two leaders share a healthy and productive working relationship focused on advancing the development of the Navrongo Central Constituency.

Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Wednesday October 15, Achana emphasized that the relationship between the MCE and the MP should be assessed based on their ability to collaborate for progress rather than their personal rapport.

“I am stating on authority that when you come to the Navrongo Central Constituency, the Member of Parliament and the MCE are on good terms. There is a difference between having a good working relationship and a personal relationship. The MP and the MCE must not be close friends before they can develop Navrongo, but from where I sit, they do have a working relationship.” He said.

Achana further explained that comments made by the MCE during his appearance before the Parliamentary Select Committee on Local Government and Rural Development were merely to provide information relevant to the committee’s work and should not be misconstrued as signs of tension between the two.

He also cited the MCE’s approval of the MP’s share of the District Assemblies Common Fund as evidence of cooperation between the two, highlighting that such collaboration has enabled the MP to undertake key interventions, including support for needy students in the constituency.

“Currently, the MP is supporting students to pay their school fees. If there were issues, the MCE wouldn’t have approved the MP’s share of the Common Fund for such important projects.” He noted.

Achana urged residents and party members to remain patient and rally behind the “Reset Agenda” being pursued in the constituency, calling on them to set aside internal political differences in the interest of development.

“The reset agenda is going to take effect in Navrongo Central, and people should just have patience. They should put issues of party internal politics aside,” he advised.
