Philanthropist Wenawome Aborah donates tools to boost Navrongo youth sanitation drive
Aborah, a native of Paga in the Kassena-Nankana West District, on Thursday August 28, presented three wheelbarrows, 10 shovels, 10 Wellington boots, 10 pairs of gloves, and five machetes as logistical support to the group.
Wenawome Duriyem Aborah, a businessman and philanthropist, has donated essential tools to the Diwolidaane Flow Keepers, a Navrongo-based youth group dedicated to cleaning streets and drains to keep the municipality clean.
Aborah, a native of Paga in the Kassena-Nankana West District, on Thursday August 28, presented three wheelbarrows, 10 shovels, 10 Wellington boots, 10 pairs of gloves, and five machetes as logistical support to the group.

Speaking during the presentation, Aborah said the gesture was aimed at reviving the spirit of communal labour, which he noted is fast declining in society.
“In the past, communal labour was working for us, but of late we’ve limited everything to money. For these young people to sacrifice their work and time to keep the environment clean, I saw that this donation will be a source of motivation for them and others to come on board to also assist the community.” He said.
He further appealed to organisations and individuals to support good causes, whether or not they directly benefit their own communities. He stressed that poor sanitation in one community can negatively affect others.
“Even though I’m from Paga, this is a Navrongo team doing the work. I cannot say I will not come to Navrongo, should any outbreak of disease happen in Navrongo, and I happen to be here, I’m likely to contract it. So it is good that we support each other.” Aborah added.

He also urged traders in Navrongo and across the Upper East Region to practice proper waste disposal and maintain clean surroundings to reduce the high levels of filth in the country.
Amadu Issah, a representative of the Diwolidaane Flow Keepers, expressed gratitude for the donation, noting that the tools would greatly enhance their work.
“I want to use this medium and opportunity to thank Mr. Aborah for his generous gesture of donating items to aid our activities. This is not our first encounter with him. Earlier, he gave us financial support, and we are very grateful to him.” Issah said.
While appealing for more assistance, Issah also called on individuals to volunteer and support their activities for a cleaner, healthier Navrongo.
“I call on anyone who has any form of support and wishes to help us with our cause. We also wish to tell anybody who wants to come and join us to do the work. It’s for us to keep Navrongo clean so that everybody will be healthy and safe.” He added.

The Diwolidaane Flow Keepers have, since the beginning of August 2025, been embarking on regular clean-up exercises, including the desilting of drains in the Kassena-Nankana Municipality, as part of their efforts to promote a cleaner environment.
