The police have commenced investigations into a robbery attack in the Paga town yesterday, February 20, 2025.
The attack was carried out by a gang of robbers around 8 pm targeting a mobile money vendor.
Eyewitnesses said the robbers, who may have acted on a tip-off, fired their guns sporadically before snatching a bag from the vendor containing an undisclosed amount of money.
The vendor, eyewitnesses said, also lost mobile phone devices to the robbers.
A team of police and military personnel quickly responded to distress calls, but the robbers took off on motorbikes before law enforcement arrived.
No casualties were reported in the attack. However, a stray bullet was said to have damaged a television set in a nearby pub.
The incident has since triggered fear among residents, who have appealed to the police to increase night patrols in the town and neighbouring communities.
