The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Kassena Nankana, Faustina Akeyom Abulu, has commended the Navrongo Charter of the Rotary Club for donating Intensive Care Unit (ICU) equipment valued at GH₵500,000 to the War Memorial Hospital in Navrongo, describing the gesture as consistent with President John Mahama’s vision to enhance healthcare delivery in Ghana.
Speaking as Guest of Honour at the presentation ceremony on Monday August 11, Abulu highlighted a number of transformative initiatives being undertaken by the government to improve the country’s health sector.
“The government of His Excellency President Mahama recognizes the importance of the healthcare sector to nation-building and is therefore implementing far-reaching policies and initiatives aimed at improving health delivery across the length and breadth of the country.” she said.
She cited the Ghana Medical Trust Fund, the Free Primary Health Care Programme, and other key projects as examples of the government’s commitment, adding that the Rotary Club’s donation fits squarely within this national vision.
“For the Rotary Club Navrongo, your dedication and humanitarian spirit is an inspiration to us all, and your efforts will leave a long-lasting legacy on the health and well-being of the people of the Kassena Nankana Municipality and beyond.” Madam Abulu stated.
She also called on the management of the War Memorial Hospital to ensure that the equipment, which includes an ICU ventilator, fully electric automated hospital beds, a syringe pump, a biphasic defibrillator, and advanced patient monitoring systems is well maintained and used effectively to benefit the community.
The donation, funded by the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority and partners, is expected to significantly boost the hospital’s capacity to provide critical care services in the Upper East Region.
