John Quarshie, Upper Regional Public Relations Officer for NRSA in an interview with Mike FM, described the figures as “shocking and surprising”, attributing the rise in figures to the high level of indiscipline on roads, especially by motorcycle users.

“From the data, motorcycles has contributed to most of the crashes and deaths as well, which boils down to the indiscipline attitude on our roads buy road users.” Quarshie said.

He noted that the authority is currently embarking on an enforcement exercise together with the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit of the Ghana Police Service  and the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA).

Additionally, Quarshie revealed that the NRSA will soon intensify awareness in public places to ensure discipline on roads, including holding stakeholder engagement towards addressing issue of bad roads in the region.
