President Mahama on Friday April 4, 2025, nominated Faustina Akeyom Abulu as the MCE for the Kassena-Nankana Municipality, waiting approval.

Abulu will become the first female MCE since the district was upgraded to a municipality in 2008.

Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show with David Adapuna on Monday, April 7, 2025, Adongo welcomed her nomination after the rigorous process, describing her as fit for the position.

He further noted that having one of two female nominees in the region at the helm of affairs at the Kassena-Nankana Municipality is a proud achievement for the municipality.

“We are lucky to have a woman to represent us as MCE, we should be happy because women are mothers and are more sympathetic.”

Faustina Akeyom Abulu, a businesswoman and current women’s organizer for the Navrongo Central NDC will have to be approved by members of the assembly before assuming her position as MCE.

The Kassena-Nankana Municipality Assembly has 50 members, comprising 35 elected and 15 appointed members.

According to Ghana’s Constitution, an MMDCE nominee must get the approval of not less than a two-thirds majority of members present and voting at an assembly meeting.
