We are not late in appointing MMDCEs – NDC
He said, compared to previous administrations, the government is still within the right time frame to make appointments to the MMDAs.

The Upper East Regional Communications Officer of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnathan Abdallah Salifu, has indicated that the John Mahama administration has not delayed in the nomination of individuals to fill the positions of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).
He said, compared to previous administrations, the government is still within the right time frame to make appointments to the MMDAs.
” If you compare to what happened in the past we are not late, even Professor Mills made appointments in April; even Akufo-Addo who said he was in a hurry until he crashlanded did his appointments in March ending towards April,” he explained
Abdallah urged the public to be patient with the government and allow due process to be followed to ensure the best persons are appointed to manage the affairs of the MMDAs.
” I understand we are all eager and want things to be done quickly but as much as we want things to be done quickly we must allow due process to be exhausted so that they do not bring us wrong people,” he emphasised
With the national-level vettingunderway, Adbdallah said there is a possibility of announcing the appointments in early April.
“I urge them to remain calm, but I know that as time goes, at least by the first week of April, I want to believe the names will be out.” he assured.
Abdallah made this known on Wednesday March 19, 2025 during an interview on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on the back of the release of shortlisted candidates for MMDCEs positions in the Upper East Region. The list was contained in a statement released yesterday by the Upper East Regional Secretary of the party, Donatus Akamugri Atanga.
The shortlisted candidates are expected to face the national vetting committee in badges from March 19 to March 20, 2025.
