We will not be silent because NDC is in power – NPP

He emphasised that the actions of the NDC administration points to deliberate attempts to intimidate and silence opposition voices.

Hillary Aniakwo, a communication team member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Chiana Paga Constituency has said the NPP will not be intimidated to be silent on national issues because the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is in power.

He emphasised that actions of the NDC administration points to deliberate attempts to intimidate and silence opposition voices.

His comments follow an attempted arrest of Member of Parliament for Assin South, Rev Ntim Fordjour, for allegations he made concerning two suspicious flights which came to Ghana from Gran Canaria.

In an interview on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Friday, April 11, 2025, Aniakwo bemoaned the methods deployed by the Mahama government against persons who question the actions of their administration.

Aniakwo noted that the government’s handling of the Ntim case is undemocratic and called for due process to be followed in seeking evidence for the claims made by the Assin South lawmaker.

“You [NDC] did not use the gun to win power, people voted for you, so we are not going to sit down and allow anybody to intimidate us,”

” We have all agreed that in Ghana, we work with laws and the constitution; you cannot do anything and expect that no one talks about it.” He added.

According to him, the NPP is ready to cooperate with the government on the matter if due process is adhered to.

“We, NPP and Rev Ntim, are ready to cooperate with any security agency through the right procedure and channels, why the rush, take time and go through the right channels.” He said.

Benjamin Biadana Abuga, a member of the Navrongo Central Constituency NDC communications team, however, said the allegations by Ntim Fordjour is criminal and calculated to tarnish the image of the country.

“He has committed a terrible crime, you don’t sink the country and when some people come to put the country back on the right level to take off, all you do is paint the country black in the eyes of the international community. Abuga expressed.
