NDC Communicator commends government’s decision to slash nurses’ school fees by 50%
Apolala described the policy as a significant relief to students and their families, many of whom struggle to finance professional training.
A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communications Team in the Navrongo Central Constituency, Godfred Apolala, has welcomed the government’s decision to reduce school fees for students in Nursing and Allied Health Training Institutions by 50 percent.
Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Monday, September 8, Apolala described the policy as a significant relief to students and their families, many of whom struggle to finance professional training.
“Imagine someone who was supposed to pay GHC 6,500 as fees now paying 50 percent less. You can see the kind of relief that brings. The NDC is delivering value.” He stated.
Apolala, however, explained that the government’s inability to absorb the full cost of fees stems from the state of the economy inherited from the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.
“The NPP left us in an economy where, if you are not strong, you cannot survive. We have considered all these challenges, and we are doing our possible best to reset the country,” he noted.
He further urged Ghanaians to exercise patience with the current administration as it works to deliver on its promises.
“As time goes on and the economy stabilizes, we will definitely implement full absorption. Subsequently, those entering these institutions will enjoy full support.” Apolala assured.
