Abatey JHS beats Bosco’s JHS to lift Feast Day soccer cup
It was 4 goals to 1 in favour of Abatey JHS who nailed their opponents in a penalty shootout, after 90 minutes of pure showmanship from both sides.

Abatey Junior High School in the Kasena Nankana Municipality on Monday lashed fierce opponents St John Bosco’s Junior High School to emerge victorious in the Feast Day Soccer Gala.
It was 4 goals to 1 in favour of Abatey JHS who nailed their opponents in a penalty shootout, after 90 minutes of pure showmanship from both sides.
For emerging top of the table, Abatey Junior High School received a football in addition to the coveted trophy. Team St John Bosco’s JHS who placed second on the table, was given a football as a consolation prize.
The other participating teams each received a football as take home.
The Abatey Feast Day Soccer Gala competition was organized to celebrate and preserve the Legacy of Monsignor Abatey. The celebration was held on the 17th of February and drew participation from the St.John Bosco’s, Queen of Peace, Adabayeri and Abatey Junior High Schools, all in the Navrongo municipality.
In an interview with Mike FM, Godson Abatey, Chief Executive Officer of Georga Football Club, Macgreorges Incorporated and the sole sponsor and lead organizer of the competition, expressed excitement about the success of the competition.
He promised to work on improving the celebration in the future.
“Over the years the family has supported every course that relates to the school, the church and the legacy of Monsignor Abatey. So today is not an exception, we had to step a notch higher by adopting a certain heritage pathway and we identified that football does not only creates love by bringing so many together, but also it does empower people.”
Arman Foster, a retired Diplomat, who was the guest of honor, encouraged parents to help their wards aspire for greater heights in life.
The football event was organized on the theme; “Youth Empowerment Through Football”. It had in attendance students and staff of the participating schools, organizers, the media and members of the public.
