All set for the 4th Upper East GJA Awards tomorrow
The annual event celebrates journalistic excellence and recognizes the vital role media practitioners play in shaping public discourse and fostering accountability in governance.

All is set for the 4th Upper East Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Awards, scheduled to take place at the Blue-Sky Hotel in Bolgatanga on Friday, October 9, 2025.
The annual event celebrates journalistic excellence and recognizes the vital role media practitioners play in shaping public discourse and fostering accountability in governance.
This year’s ceremony is expected to feature several distinguished guests, including the Deputy Minister of Education, Clement Apaak, who will serve as the Guest Speaker; the Upper East Regional Minister, Akamugre Donatus Atanga; and the President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Albert Kwabena Dwumfour.
Organized under the theme, “Upholding Public Trust: The Role of the Media in Promoting Accountable Governance in the Upper East Region,” the 4th GJA Awards will honour 13 shortlisted journalists from across the region.
The finalists include Gilbert Azeem Tiroog (GNA), Nicholas Azebire (Dreamz FM), Joshua Asaah (A1 Radio), Moses Apiah (A1 Radio), Ngamegbulam Chidozie Stephen (Apexnewsgh), and Halidu Dasmani (Adom TV).
The rest are Castro Senyalah (TV3), David Azure (A1 Radio), Gladys Apuweni (GBC), Nelson Jose Abagna (GBC), Humul-Khrusum Tahiru (A1 Radio), Peter Agengre (GBC), and Mark Kwasi Ahumah Smith (A1 Radio).
Caroline Abisiku, a Communication Studies student at the Bolgatanga Technical University, will also be honoured as the Student Journalist of the Year.
In addition, special recognition will be given to distinguished individuals and organizations that have contributed significantly to media development in the region.

The ceremony, which is expected to begin at 7:00 p.m., will be aired live on Mike 105.3 FM and streamed on www.mikeradioonline.com and all Mike FM social media platforms.
