Bayivere labels Asiedu Nketiah’s thank you tour a politically calculated move

NPP Youth Organizer questions motive behind separate nationwide tour by NDC National Chairman

The Navrongo Central Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Daniel Bayivere, has described the ongoing “Thank You Tour” by National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, as a politically calculated exercise rather than a genuine appreciation tour.

According to Bayivere, the tour appears to be a disguised political campaign aimed at advancing the personal political interests of the NDC Chairman.

Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Monday, May 25, Bayivere questioned the rationale behind a separate nationwide thank you tour by the NDC Chairman after President John Dramani Mahama had already undertaken a similar exercise.

“The NDC Chairman says he is doing a thank you tour, but respectfully, I would say he is not doing a thank you tour. He is on a campaign tour. You can say it is a thank you tour, but in my personal opinion, it is a campaign tour,” Bayivere stated.

He argued that if the intention was genuinely to appreciate party supporters, there would have been no need for an additional nationwide tour following the President’s engagements.

Bayivere further alleged that some members within the NDC are unhappy with the chairman’s visits, citing the Member of Parliament for the Chiana-Paga Constituency, Nikyema Billa Alamzy, as one of the party figures who has publicly questioned the motive behind the exercise.

According to him, the MP raised concerns about the relevance of the tour to constituents who, in his view, are still expecting government appointments and development initiatives.

“Alamzy, the MP for Chiana-Paga, rose and spoke against it, asking what he was coming to thank them for when they had been denied appointments,” Bayivere claimed.

The NPP Youth Organizer maintained that Johnson Asiedu Nketiah is leveraging his position within the NDC to campaign under the guise of a thank you tour, while many within the party remain silent over the matter.

He also pointed to the history of the NDC, noting that previous national chairmen did not embark on separate nationwide thank you tours after presidential post-election appreciation tours had already been conducted.
