Daniel Ayine pledges unity and reconciliation Ahead of 2028 Elections

Newly elected NPP Regional Secretary Daniel Ayine says reconciliation, grassroots reorganisation and stronger communication will be central to rebuilding the party ahead of the 2028 elections.

The newly elected Upper East Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Daniel Ayine, has pledged that the new regional executives will prioritise unity, reconciliation and the reorganisation of the party as they begin their tenure.

Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Monday, August 17, Ayine said the NPP’s poor performance in the 2024 parliamentary elections, which saw the party lose all parliamentary seats in the Upper East Region, was a setback for the regional leadership and required urgent corrective measures.

He said the newly elected regional executives had therefore resolved to bring together all members of the party, including former executives, defeated parliamentary aspirants and other members who might have felt excluded from the party’s activities.

Ayine disclosed that he had already reached out to individuals who contested against him in the regional elections, with the aim of benefiting from their experience and involving them in the party’s activities.

“I cannot do the work alone,” he said, emphasising that rebuilding the party could not be the sole responsibility of the Regional Chairman or Secretary.

He also called for former constituency executives to be reintegrated into the party’s organisational activities, arguing that their experience would be valuable to the current leadership.

Ayine said his immediate priority was to strengthen the party’s structures across the region and identify constituencies where the NPP could realistically regain parliamentary seats in the 2028 elections.

He mentioned Navrongo, Chiana-Paga, Talensi, Nabdam, Binduri and Tempane as constituencies previously won by the NPP that could be considered winnable with the right strategies, candidates and grassroots engagement.

He said the regional secretariat would also focus on building the capacity of its various officers.

According to him, the party would organise orientation and training programmes to equip officers with the skills required to communicate effectively and perform their respective responsibilities.

Ayine emphasised the need for the NPP to communicate its policies and programmes more effectively, rather than relying heavily on political propaganda.

He said the party’s communication strategy must focus on genuinely convincing Ghanaians while addressing concerns surrounding its previous electoral performance.

Ayine maintained that the NPP’s ultimate objective was to rebuild its support base, increase its parliamentary representation in the Upper East Region and contribute to the party’s national efforts to return to power in 2028.

He acknowledged that the task would be challenging but expressed confidence that the experience of the newly elected executives, coupled with unity, reconciliation and consultation, could help the party regain its political fortunes in the region.
