NEDCo urges customers to promptly report electrical faults on meters, transformers

He encouraged customers and community leaders to report such incidents but cautioned against seeking assistance from technicians not sanctioned by NEDCo.

The Upper East Regional Office of the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) has urged customers to promptly report electrical faults on meters, poles, and transformers to their respective area offices for quick resolution.

Speaking on Utility Hour, a weekly program on Mike FM, Adam Ahmed, a Customer Relations Assistant at NEDCo, explained that the company is unable to detect faults unless they are reported by customers.

He encouraged customers and community leaders to report such incidents but cautioned against seeking assistance from technicians not sanctioned by NEDCo.

“We haven’t gotten to a stage where we can sit in the office and be able to tell that there’s a problem in this particular area, so the best thing is for the consumer or the customer to personally call us through the phone or just come to our premises and report.” Ahmed said.

He also noted that in some cases, consumers engage unauthorised technicians who end up damaging transformers, warning that such actions could worsen the situation.

“We are responsible for installing the meters, and so if there’s a problem with the meter, we should be the ones for you to report to, and so if you allow anyone to go and tamper with the meter, it means that you are equally at fault.” he added.
