The Chairman of the Upper East Regional Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS), Richard Akumbas, has admonished fresh senior high school students to resist the temptation of copying wrongful behaviours from their colleagues.
Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Monday, September 29, Akumbas noted that while the transition into senior high school offers opportunities to meet new people, it also comes with risks of negative influence.
“Our people have a saying that you copy the dance of your friend, not his behavior. As they leave their homes and come to school, they will meet all sorts of people. They should not copy wrongful behaviours,” He cautioned.
He further warned the fresh students to be careful about sharing foodstuffs with colleagues, explaining that some food items may be laced with harmful substances such as marijuana and other drugs. According to him, these could expose unsuspecting students to addiction.
Akumbas encouraged students to be content with the provisions given by their parents and rely on the school’s feeding systems to meet their needs.
“When they come, they should be content with what their parents give them. The dining hall should be able to sustain them, and if they want extra, they can then use supplementary foods.” He advised.
