NABIA Navrongo branch supports alma mater with medical supplies, television

Health outreach combines screening, blood donation and clinic support as NABIA strengthens student healthcare at NAVASCO

The Navrongo Branch of the Navrongo Senior High School Old Students Association (NABIA) has donated medical supplies and a television set to the school clinic to support and enhance healthcare delivery for students and staff.

The donation was made during the NABIA Navrongo Health Outreach held at the school’s premises on Saturday, May 30.

The outreach programme featured aerobic exercise sessions, health screening services, and a blood donation exercise in support of the blood bank at the Navrongo War Memorial Hospital.

Speaking to the media during the presentation, President of the NABIA Navrongo Branch, Lawyer Amos Ayuure, said the initiative was designed to promote health and wellbeing while strengthening healthcare services at the school.

“This initiative had three main components: health screening, the donation of medical supplies to the school clinic, and blood donation to the blood bank of the Navrongo War Memorial Hospital,” he said.

Lawyer Ayuure explained that the clinic, which currently serves both students and staff, was initiated and completed through the efforts of various NABIA branches.

He noted that the association deemed it necessary to further support the facility with essential medical supplies to improve service delivery.

He also acknowledged the support of partners within the pharmaceutical industry whose contributions made the donation possible.

“We are grateful to our partners for supporting this initiative. These supplies will go a long way in improving healthcare delivery within the school environment and ensuring that students and staff receive quality medical attention when needed,” he stated.

Chairperson of the Health Outreach Committee, Eunice Tangwom, disclosed that the donation comprised a variety of drugs, non-drug consumables, and essential medical equipment.

“We have donated both drugs and non-drug items to the clinic. The drugs include antimalarial medications, oral rehydration salts (ORS), albendazole, and several others. The non-drug items include syringes, nebulizers, blood pressure apparatus, gloves, and other essential supplies to support the effective running of the clinic,” she said.

Receiving the items on behalf of the school, the Headmistress of Navrongo Senior High School, Mercy Babachuwe, expressed profound appreciation to the NABIA Navrongo Branch, describing the gesture as timely and impactful.

“We want to thank you for the generous donation you have made this morning. Health is wealth. This clinic was built and donated to the school by NABIA during our 60th Anniversary celebration, and today you have once again demonstrated your commitment to the welfare of the school community. We are deeply grateful,” she said.

Babachuwe noted that the medical supplies and equipment would significantly enhance healthcare delivery at the clinic and improve the wellbeing of both students and staff.

She further appealed to other NABIA branches and stakeholders to continue supporting the school in addressing its developmental and infrastructural needs.

The donation forms part of NABIA Navrongo Branch’s commitment to promoting quality healthcare and supporting the educational environment at Navrongo Senior High School.
