A Senior Lecturer at the School of Chemical and Biochemical Sciences of the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS), Dr. Mary Magdalene Pedavoah, has encouraged women and working professionals to take advantage of the university’s academic programmes to further their education and enhance their career prospects.
Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Thursday, June 11, Dr. Pedavoah said UTAS offers a wide range of competitive academic programmes that are recognized both nationally and internationally, providing graduates with opportunities across diverse professional fields.
“UTAS has a lot of programmes with excellent prospects, just like other programmes across the country and beyond. They are very competitive both locally and internationally,” she stated.
According to Dr. Pedavoah, the strategic location of the university makes it an attractive option for individuals seeking to combine work with further studies without having to relocate from their communities or places of employment.
She noted that many professionals in the Upper East Region can conveniently pursue higher education at UTAS while maintaining their jobs and other responsibilities.
“Within the region, UTAS is the obvious choice for you. You can come here, pursue your programme, and still be able to continue with your work and other commitments,” she said.
Dr. Pedavoah particularly encouraged women who aspire to advance their education to consider enrolling at the university, assuring them of a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
“I want to encourage women who are interested in continuing their education. UTAS is here for you,” she emphasized.
She further disclosed that the university has established a vibrant women’s support network that offers mentorship, guidance and encouragement to female staff and students.
According to her, the initiative is designed to create an enabling environment that empowers women to excel academically, professionally and personally.
Dr. Pedavoah expressed confidence that the support systems available at UTAS would help women overcome challenges associated with balancing education, work and family responsibilities while positioning them to make meaningful contributions to national development.
She urged prospective students, particularly women and working professionals, to seize the opportunity to invest in their future through higher education, stressing that academic advancement remains a key pathway to personal growth and career success.
