Donald Abowinum best positioned to lead NPP youth front in Navrongo Central – Campaign Team Member

A member of Donald Abowinum's campaign team says the NPP youth organiser aspirant has the leadership, grassroots appeal and electoral strength needed to revitalise the party's youth front ahead of the 2028 elections.

A member of the campaign team of Navrongo Central New Patriotic Party (NPP) Youth Organiser aspirant, Donald Abowinum, has described him as the most capable candidate to lead the party’s youth wing as it prepares for the 2028 general elections.

The Northern Electoral Area Secretary of the Navrongo Central Constituency and a member of Abowinum’s campaign team, Iddrisu Amadu, said the aspirant possesses the leadership qualities and grassroots appeal needed to reconnect the party with young voters and strengthen its electoral prospects in the constituency.

According to Amadu, his decision to support Abowinum was informed by the aspirant’s demonstrated performance and influence within his electoral area.

He noted that despite operating in what is widely regarded as a difficult area for NPP candidates, Abowinum succeeded in making a significant electoral impact, showcasing his ability to attract support and mobilise voters.

“This whole election is about numbers. At the end of the day, we are looking for somebody who will be able to attract votes,” he stated.

Amadu argued that the party’s disappointing performance in the 2024 general elections, where the NPP secured victory in only eight out of 130 polling stations in the Navrongo Central Constituency, underscores the need for leaders with proven electoral strength and grassroots influence.

He pointed out that Abowinum’s polling station was among the few won by the NPP during the elections, attributing the achievement to his hard work, commitment, and leadership abilities.

“We need our best arsenals as we prepare for the 2028 elections, and with him leading the youth front, I believe that objective can be achieved,” he said.

Amadu further disclosed that he had advised the aspirant to focus on presenting realistic and achievable policies to delegates while promoting unity within the party by embracing all contestants and their supporters after the elections.

He also revealed that he has been tasked with coordinating Abowinum’s campaign activities within the party’s Central Zone, which comprises several electoral areas, where he is actively mobilising support among delegates ahead of the constituency elections.

Calling on delegates to prioritise competence over geographical considerations, Amadu stressed that merit and capacity should guide their decision at the polls.

“Let us assess the individual based on merit. It should not be about where a person comes from, but rather what he is capable of doing for the party,” he appealed.

Expressing confidence in Abowinum’s chances, Amadu said he believes the aspirant will emerge victorious in the upcoming constituency youth organiser election and play a key role in uniting the party’s youth front ahead of future electoral contests.
