A Medical Officer at the Paga Hospital in the Kassena-Nankana West District of the Upper East Region, Dr. Ama Antwiwaa Adu-Appiah, has donated medical equipment and supplies worth GH¢20,000 to the facility after using a cash appreciation package she received from the Paga Youth Movement (PAYOM) to support healthcare delivery.
The donation has been widely praised by management and staff of the hospital, who described the gesture as a remarkable demonstration of dedication and selfless service.
The GH¢20,000 cash gift was presented to Dr. Adu-Appiah by PAYOM on July 16, 2026, in recognition of her decision to accept a posting to Paga Hospital, where access to medical doctors has often been a challenge.
Instead of spending the money on personal needs, the medical officer used the entire amount to procure equipment and supplies aimed at addressing some of the hospital’s immediate needs.
The donated items include three nebulisers, two blood pressure monitors, a fetal Doppler machine, a vein finder, a haemoglobin analyser, five drip stands, five ward screens, a baby weighing scale, perfuser lines, two Veronica buckets, two handwashing basins, six rolls of cotton wool and four packs of bottled water.
Presenting the items to the hospital, Dr. Adu-Appiah thanked the Paga Youth Movement for the honour and confidence reposed in her.
She said the decision to invest the money in the hospital was motivated by her desire to improve the working environment for health professionals while enhancing the quality of care provided to patients.
According to her, the equipment would help strengthen healthcare delivery for residents of Paga and neighbouring communities.
Dr. Adu-Appiah also acknowledged the support of her colleagues, Dr. Didier Oteng and Dr. John Aberba, as well as the nursing staff, whose assistance made it possible to procure the items within a short period.
She urged hospital staff to maintain the equipment properly to ensure it serves patients for many years and described the Paga Youth Movement as a dependable partner in supporting healthcare development in the area.
The hospital management warmly received the equipment and commended Dr. Ama Antwiwaa Adu-Appiah for her selfless gesture.
