Police secure 20-year jail term for Zebilla robbery convict
Upper East Regional Police Command says the conviction underscores its commitment to combating robbery and safeguarding lives and property across the region.
The Upper East Regional Police Command has secured a 20-year prison sentence for a 29-year-old man convicted of robbery in Zebilla, following investigations that led to the recovery of several stolen items.
The convict, identified as Paul Cheloo, was arrested on June 7, 2025, at his residence in Zebilla after police investigations linked him to a robbery case.
A search conducted at his home resulted in the retrieval of a Royal 125 motorbike, a Yamaha Sirius motorbike, a Yamaha scooter, and an iPhone, all of which were identified as property stolen from victims.
Cheloo was arraigned before the Bolgatanga Circuit Court on July 21, 2026, where he was convicted and sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment.
The Upper East Regional Police Command said the conviction demonstrates its commitment to fighting crime and ensuring the safety and security of law-abiding citizens across the region.
The Command reaffirmed its resolve to continue working tirelessly to bring offenders to justice and maintain peace and security in the Upper East Region.
