NDC must apologise for GH¢1 fuel levy amid persistent power outages — Former NPP Youth Organiser
Former NPP youth organiser demands accountability over fuel levy amid ongoing power outages

A former youth organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Chiana-Paga Constituency, Abass Mohammed, has called on the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) to apologise to Ghanaians over the introduction of the GH¢1 fuel levy, arguing that it has failed to deliver on its intended purpose of stabilising power supply.
Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Friday, May 1, Mohammed said the levy was introduced with the expectation that it would help address challenges in the energy sector and ensure a reliable electricity supply.
According to him, the persistence of power outages despite the additional revenue raises concerns about the utilisation of funds generated under the levy.
He further argued that government should have acknowledged the situation and appealed to the public for patience while outlining clear steps to resolve the ongoing power challenges.
Mohammed stressed the need for accountability, urging authorities to provide a detailed breakdown of how proceeds from the levy have been spent.
“You increased electricity tariffs cumulatively to 28 per cent and introduced the fuel levy, yet there is no stable power supply. You need to explain.” He stated.
