Achan-Yeri Assembly Member petitions Bulsa North MCE over management of DRIP equipment
Achan-Yeri Assembly Member seeks accountability on DRIP machine operations and revenue use in Bulsa North
The Assembly Member for the Achan-Yeri Electoral Area in the Builsa North Municipality, Stephen A. Ayaagutika, has formally petitioned the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), seeking detailed information on the operation and financial management of the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP) machines within the municipality.
In a letter dated June 10, 2026, and addressed to the MCE, Ayaagutika raised concerns about the utilization of the road construction and maintenance equipment supplied under the DRIP initiative, which was established to support road rehabilitation and maintenance activities across Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs).
The assembly member requested comprehensive information on the number of communities and area councils that have benefited from road reshaping and maintenance works since the introduction of the programme in the municipality.
He also sought details on the frequency of such road improvement activities and the criteria used in selecting beneficiary communities.
Additionally, Ayaagutika requested clarification on whether the Municipal Assembly deploys the DRIP machines for commercial purposes and, if so, under what arrangements and conditions.
The petition further called for a report on the financial status of the DRIP machines’ account, including any revenues generated through the operation of the equipment and how such funds have been utilized.
According to the letter, the assembly member wants the Municipal Assembly to provide responses to the issues raised during the First Ordinary General Assembly Meeting of the Third Session of the Ninth Builsa North Municipal Assembly, scheduled for June 19, 2026.
Ayaagutika emphasized the importance of transparency, accountability and prudent management of public resources, particularly programmes designed to improve road infrastructure and enhance access to communities.
He noted that assembly members have a responsibility to ensure that public assets and government interventions are managed in a manner that delivers maximum benefits to residents.
Ayaagutika expressed confidence that the Municipal Assembly would provide the requested information to enable assembly members and the public to better appreciate the impact and effectiveness of the programme within the municipality.
