The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Kassena-Nankana Municipal Assembly, Faustina Akeyom Abulu, has handed over a newly constructed three-unit classroom block with a Headteacher’s office and a four-seater toilet facility to the Municipal Education Directorate at Aforigabisi to enhance teaching and learning in the community.
The facility, handed over on Thursday, July 30, was fully funded through the District Assembly Common Fund as part of efforts to improve educational infrastructure and expand access to quality basic education.
The newly completed classroom block is fully furnished, with each classroom equipped with an internal restroom and a storeroom.
The project also includes a dedicated office for the Headteacher and a four-seater toilet facility to improve sanitation and hygiene within the school.
Speaking during a brief handing-over ceremony, Abulu said the project was undertaken to ease overcrowding in classrooms, improve learning outcomes, increase school enrolment and retention, and help reduce school dropout and early marriage in the community.
She called on teachers, parents, the School Management Committee (SMC), the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), and the entire Aforigabisi community to cultivate a strong maintenance culture to ensure the facility remains in good condition for generations to come.
Abulu stressed that education is a shared responsibility and urged all stakeholders to protect and preserve the investment to ensure it continues to benefit both current and future pupils.
