Badaare rallies behind Mahama’s reset Agenda, says economy is turning around

James Badaare, a member of the NDC Communications Team for the Chiana-Paga Constituency, has defended President John Dramani Mahama’s Reset Agenda, insisting that the government is laying the foundation for economic growth, job creation and improved living conditions.

Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Tuesday, August 12, Badaare said President Mahama’s visit to the Upper East Region formed part of efforts to engage citizens, inspect development projects and assess the performance of various sectors of the economy.

He explained that the Reset Agenda was necessary because, in his view, the NDC inherited a struggling economy and therefore needed to restore macroeconomic stability before focusing fully on economic growth and job creation.

“Ghana is on reset. It will reach them,” he stated.

Addressing concerns about unemployment, particularly among teachers and other professionals, Badaare acknowledged that challenges remained but said the government had begun recruitment processes and needed more time to deliver on its promises.

He argued that the government’s approach was to first stabilize the economy, creating the foundation for sustainable economic growth and employment opportunities.

On the stalled Agenda 111 hospital projects, Badaare defended the government’s position, explaining that the financial difficulties inherited by the administration had made it impossible to complete all the projects simultaneously.

He said the government was therefore considering alternative arrangements, including partnerships with private institutions, to help complete some of the unfinished hospital projects and create additional employment opportunities for health professionals.

Badaare also backed calls for the Paga Senior High School (SHS) to be upgraded to a boarding institution, saying the move would improve access to quality education and contribute to the development of the area.

He said the government’s engagements with residents were intended to ensure that communities were involved in the development process.

“The purpose is to carry the people along,” he said.

Badaare expressed optimism that President Mahama’s engagement with residents and inspection of development projects in the region would provide an opportunity for communities to raise emerging concerns and for government to respond to their development needs.
