Kingsley Kanwi urges collective action to drive Manyoro development

The Assembly Member for the Manyoro Electoral Area, Kingsley Kanwi, has called on residents to rally behind efforts to accelerate the development of the community.

He said the development of the area remained a priority for him, adding that he would continue to champion its development in collaboration with traditional leaders and other development stakeholders.

Speaking at a community forum he organised on Saturday, September 12, to engage residents and solicit ideas on the development of the area, Kanwi said he remained accountable to the people who elected him to represent their interests at the Assembly.

“I called for an open forum because, as a member of the community, I must be accountable to them because they sent me to the Assembly,” he said.

Kanwi said the engagement was necessary to enable him to account for his stewardship, listen to the concerns of residents and collectively discuss practical ways of advancing the development of the community.

He said he had taken note of the concerns raised by residents and called for a collective effort to address them for the overall development of the area.

The community members expressed appreciation to the Assembly Member for creating an opportunity for an open dialogue on issues affecting the community and its development.

Some residents raised concerns about drug abuse among the youth, reckless riding of motorbikes in the market area, stray animals during the rainy season and the extension of electricity to some parts of the community, among other issues.

They called on the Assembly Member to work with the Assembly, traditional leaders and other relevant stakeholders to address the concerns.

The engagement also featured performances by a local traditional dance troupe, which added cultural vibrancy to the event.
