Tamale North NPP Chairman Suspended Amid Allegations of Misconduct and Violence

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has suspended its Tamale North Constituency Chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Fuseini Sadat, following serious allegations of misconduct. The decision, conveyed in a letter dated January 25, 2025, was signed by the Northern Regional Chairman, Mohammed Adam Baantima Samba2.
The suspension comes after a petition submitted by concerned polling station executives, who outlined several accusations against Alhaji Sadat. Among the most serious allegations is the shooting and injury of Mr. Karim Alhassan, a polling station organizer, on January 17, 20252. Alhaji Sadat is also accused of threatening constituency executives with a firearm during a meeting and leading an armed group to seize a vehicle belonging to a supporter of a Parliamentary Candidate.
Other allegations include organizing a break-in at the private business premises of a former Parliamentary Candidate, resulting in the theft of valuable items such as fertilizers and streetlights. Alhaji Sadat is also accused of making baseless accusations and using offensive language against fellow party members, as well as engaging in acts of violence and intimidation1.
The Regional Executive Committee, after reviewing the petition, unanimously decided to suspend Alhaji Sadat. The suspension is based on alleged breaches of Articles 4 (7) (1b) and 4 (7) (1g) of the NPP Constitution. The suspension takes effect immediately and will remain in force while the Regional Disciplinary Committee conducts a full investigation into the allegations1.
Alhaji Sadat has been instructed to fully cooperate with the Disciplinary Committee, abstain from representing or engaging in any activities on behalf of the party, and return all party property in his possession to the Constituency executive committee.
The NPP has assured that the disciplinary process will be thorough and fair. The party expects Alhaji Sadat to respect the decision of the Regional Executive Committee and adhere to the guidelines of the ongoing investigation.
