Placement challenges expose gaps in Ghana’s education system–Adazu
NPP Electoral Affairs Officer Barnabas Adazu says challenges surrounding the 2026 BECE school placement process expose deeper gaps in Ghana’s education system.
An Electoral Affairs Officer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Navrongo Central Constituency, Barnabas Adazu, has questioned the direction of Ghana’s education system, arguing that the large numbers of parents and students seeking assistance at school placement centres should be enough to raise concerns about the 2026 BECE placement process.
According to him, the situation should not be dismissed or reduced to partisan politics, particularly when parents and students are seeking solutions to challenges surrounding the placement exercise.
Speaking on the Big Mike Breakfast Show on Monday, September 14, Adazu said the pressure at placement centres was an indication of deeper challenges within the education system that required urgent attention.
He argued that the government should focus on resolving the challenges rather than blaming the NPP, stressing that the people seeking assistance at placement centres come from different political backgrounds.
“The people who amass at the placement centres are not NPP members. They are Ghanaians,” Adazu stated.
Adazu further said students who failed to secure placement in their preferred schools deserved attention, arguing that their educational future should not become a subject of political disagreements between the NPP and the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He therefore called for greater attention to the challenges associated with the placement process and urged stakeholders to prioritise the interests of students and parents.
