The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Bolgatanga Municipality, Roland Atanga Ayoo, has reacted to calls for his Assembly to consider the renovating the Bolgatanga Mobile Astro which is in a deplorable state. It is the first Astro Turf constructed in the region.
In his address to spectators at the climax of the 18th edition of the Ramadan Soccer Fiesta in Bolgatanga, the MCE, Roland Ayoo said, the renovation of the field is above the Assembly but assured them of getting in with the Member of Parliament to in contact with the relevant Authorities to work on the field.
The sports facility an initiative of the then Ministry of Inner Cities and Zongo Development, during the tenure of Alhaji Boniface Abubakar Sadique was awarded to contracted a natural grass tuff in 2019 but was later converted and constructed with an artificial grass turf.
Sport enthusiast in the region and stakeholder have described the current state of the field as deteriorating and not fit for its purpose for competitive football games.
